The Obama administration is determined to turn this country inside out.   In a few short months, our country has become weaker and our government bigger.

Americans can not accept this any longer.

Philadelphia a microcosm of failed liberal politics

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 6:05:42 PM

Anyone doubting the illogic of liberal politics and the irrelevance of unions need only pay a visit to Philadelphia.   Thanks to decades of uninterrupted Democratic party rule, the city is broke and has been for a long time.  Nevertheless, the city's mass transit (SEPTA) union, in the middle of a recession that has most of us fighting to keep our jobs, wages, and benefits, is pressing for more, more, more.  And, they chose to strike just hours before the city hosted game 1 of the World Series -- a not-so veiled form of extortion that did not work.  Finally realizing the PR disaster that such a stunt would generate, they instead waited until the Series moved out of the city and the national cameras were gone to go on strike in the middle of the night.   In a case of Democrat vs. Democrat, even the Governor and the Mayor have come out against the union's unfair demands and slimy tactics.   I won't get into the details of the contract talks and negotiation points -- those can be read about here.

The most alarming aspect of this story comes from the union head, Willie Brown.  How does he refute the point that SEPTA has no money?   To paraphrase an interview he gave, "Obama provided millions in stimulus money to the city and we want to be paid from that."  Oh really, Willie?   First - contrary to popular belief among BO's most indoctrinated supporters, it is taxpayer money, not Obama's money.   Second - the stimulus was supposed to create new jobs, not go to pay-off union extortions.   Democratic Party hypocrisy at its finest.

Keep this twisted logic in mind when you consider BO's more than strong ties to unions like SEIU -- otherwise known as the storm-troopers behind the many documented attacks against tea-party patriots.  Their head is the #1 visitor to the White House these days -- even more than Oprah.
